Tunnel depicts an askew version of the artist with two conflicting colours battling over her skin and hair to express the emotions of the artist at the time of painting. The colours have become representations of thoughts with greens and blues depicting depressive thoughts and pinks and purples depicting mania. Although the face is emotionless, the colour exposes her mentality. It is evident through the overwhelming amount of green and the thick sporadic, yet careful, brushstrokes that at the time of painting, the artist's depressive thoughts were overpowering. Despite the ascendency to depressive thoughts, there appears to be a surrender and acceptance.
