ARTIST BIO

Jasmine Megson is an emerging Brisbane-based artist and recently completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Visual Arts at QUT and has now started a Master of Philosophy in Creative Practice.  Her practice is based around mental illness and bringing awareness to it, particularly drawing from her own experiences. Many of her works follow a colour key that translates colour into emotional states as a way of 'reading' the works. She experiments with two-dimensional media to see how it can become more immersive for the audience. By creating these kinds of works, Jasmine intends to spark conversation about mental illness and break the stigma surrounding it.

Jasmine also volunteers at Art from the Margins, a gallery and studio run by Wesley Mission Queensland that supports outsider artists.
